Expect the Unexpected

This past weekend I had the occasion to visit Buffalo's Albright Knox Art Gallery. The Albright Knox is one of the nation’s oldest public arts organizations.

Jennifer Stienkamp has her latest installation up at this our premier art gallery. I went not knowing anything of the installation and was completely blown away. One of the rooms, called the TV Room, was such a bizarre visual experience that I could only stand and watch for moments at a time. The Carter room, named after Jimmy Carter, consisted of wall-to-wall flowers that appeared to come alive as you moved about the space. The experience reminded me of Ray Bradbury's short story called The Veldt - where a child's nursery literally turns into an African jungle glade. If you're into psychedelic video imagery, then get over to the gallery to see this. If you were a big fan of the Magic Eye when it was popular... this is the Magic Eye on speed.

The installations were setup with large venue LCD projectors. I saw mostly NEC VT470s, a few Eiki's and a few Pioneer 50 in panels. The technology was seamlessly implemented and truly a rewarding experience.
